I am a dog who likes to stick to a routine. We don’t have one yet here. However, I am still settling in pretty well.
We go for walks two or three times a day, and we play indoors. Sometimes we have company- people or other dogs. I like my friend Rowdy, but he always brings along this little puppy that is only a couple of months old and hasn’t learned all her manners yet. For instance, it is socially awkward when a puppy tries to latch onto one of my nipples to nurse.
I am shunning her until she stops getting all up in my face demanding that I play or pay attention to her. I have given a few of her tricks a try at home, though. Sometimes I will jump on Mom and bark right in her face if I want to play. That’s not working out too well. Also, I tried nesting in the laundry basket twice like Nixie (the puppy) does at her house. Mom kicked me out both times. Something about clean laundry and me being too big.
A few times we’ve driven up into the mountains to go for walks. It smells wrong- too much pine, not enough creosote. Also, there’s not much in the way of dog pee to sniff so it’s hard to find out what’s going on.
We have a lot of dogs in this town that wander around unsupervised. Some of them try to come near my house so I am very busy staying on alert. Fortunately, the windows are at just the right height for my Black Dog Ops:
Mom picked up some pictures that my buddies at Sit! Stay! Play! in Tucson took in the last couple of weeks I was there. We are going to have to send a package off to them this week, and I will probably post a few of the photos in the next few days.
To all the Sit! Stay! Play! people and my dog buddies there- I miss you!
